We have a new member in EFGAMP ranks! The European Federation of Video Game Archives, Museums and Preservation welcomes the Museum of Soviet Arcade Machines to the merry ranks of our international group of video game historians and researchers.
The Museum of Soviet Arcade Machines was founded in 2007 and has since expanded to Saint Petersburg as well. Both locations have wonderful collections of old Soviet era amusement and arcade machines, many of which are playable. Both locations provide guided tours and host regular events where researchers, students and game developers give academic and more leisure presentations.
Maxim Pinigin, the CEO of the museum:
“The whole Museum team is very happy to join the EFAGMP! We are glad to finally become a part of the Association and little by little turn into common mission and aims. The main priority of the Museum of Soviet Arcade Machines was always to preserve the arcade heritage from the Soviet Past, so from now, hopefully, our job could encourage each other to cope with all challenges.”
Since the museum’s founding the team has found, collected and restored almost 200 arcade machines which were in danger of disappearing after the dissolution of the USSR.
