EFGAMP continues to expand its network of European heritage institutions. The Museum of Games and Computers of the Past Era in Wrocław has officially joined the federation, reinforcing EFGAMP’s mission to safeguard and promote digital gaming culture across Europe.
The Museum is rooted in the activities of RetroGralnia, an informal collective of game enthusiasts founded in 2010. Initially focused on lectures at festivals and conventions, curated thematic zones, and travelling exhibitions, the group gradually built a visible presence within Poland’s retro and gaming community, participating in more than 60 events across the country.
In 2017, this grassroots initiative evolved into the permanent Museum of Games and Computers of the Past Era in Wrocław. Its mission is to present the intertwined histories of video entertainment and home computing not as separate phenomena, but as a shared cultural and technological narrative. Beyond static displays, the Museum offers direct access to history: visitors can actively play on nearly 50 original stations, including vintage computers, consoles, and arcade machines.
“The creation of the Museum of Games and Computers of the Past Era is a prime example of the vitality of gaming cultural heritage”, says Andreas Lange, COO of EFGAMP. “Its bottom-up approach demonstrates the high level of commitment among fans of classic games, who develop and operate a cultural offering whose appeal extends beyond the community”.
Jakub Rzepecki, President of the Board at GIKME Foundation says: “Joining EFGAMP is a significant milestone and a natural step in our development. For us, it is not only an honor but, above all, a real opportunity to exchange expertise with European institutions that have shared a similar mission for years. Collaboration within the federation will certainly support the further expansion of our museum in Wrocław and opens the door for joint projects – for example during our flagship event – Games & Vintage Days, to which we warmly invite everyone this October 2026.”
With the accession of the Museum of Games and Computers of the Past Era, EFGAMP now counts two members from Poland, alongside GOG, reflecting the country’s growing role in the European conversation on game preservation.
EFGAMP invites archives, museums, academic institutions, and preservation initiatives committed to safeguarding digital gaming heritage to explore membership within the federation. By joining EFGAMP, organisations gain access to a European network of expertise, collaborative projects, and policy dialogue shaping the future of digital cultural heritage.
