EFGAMP receives funding of European Union

Logo ECHOES

We are thrilled that our Games2Cloud (G2C) project has been selected to receive funding from the European Union through the ECHOES Cascading Grants Programme. This makes EFGAMP part of the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH) family, consisting of consortia led by Cultural Heritage Institutions to engage with the European Cultural Heritage Cloud. The ECCCH is a new EU-funded digital platform connecting Cultural Heritage Institutions across Europe, including museums, archives, libraries, researchers, and conservators. It offers shared infrastructure, advanced tools, and a collaborative space to digitise, preserve, and showcase cultural heritage. In a broader sense G2C will also help to ensure the compatibility of the ECCCH with born-digital cultural heritage, which is increasingly coming to the attention of decision-makers.

With G2C we will connect all relevant stakeholders in Europe with the ECCCH who are involved in preserving the cultural heritage of computer games. In doing so, G2C takes a holistic approach and also addresses both players from the games industry and community-driven initiatives. This is achieved by utilizing functionality currently under development within the ECCCH architecture to demonstrate the concrete benefits of collaboration to the target groups

For this purpose a domain-aware video game ontology serves as a supporting and illustrative perspective. It functions as a demonstrator that shows how video game related data -spanning works, versions, regional releases, and production contexts – can be aligned with the principles, services, and interoperability functionality of the ECCCH. The ontology enables concrete use cases for metadata harmonisation, multilingual access, and linked-data integration. By focusing on awareness-raising and practical integration into the ECCCH, G2C contributes to expanding the Cloud’s thematic scope and user base, while reinforcing FAIR data principles and cross-domain connectivity.

If you feel that you or your organization could contribute to the project please approach us. Within the project time from July 2026 until December 2027 we will set up an open structure for interested parties and organize public workshops.
