Československý herní archiv is a project of the Czech association Herní historie and started its activity in 2021 following several years of other activities in the association. Its main goal is cataloging and archiving all artifacts connected to Czechoslovak gaming history in a broad scope. Československý herní archiv digitizes and archives local games on various data carriers, gaming magazines, computers, consoles and other gaming hardware, development materials and more. They also make interviews with game developers and other people who experienced gaming history firsthand, build connections with similar organizations, and ensure this work becomes easier for newly emerging games. They have cooperated on projects with the Czech National Museum, Swiss Museé Bolo and Slovak Slovenské centrum dizajnu. Among their successes is initiating the preservation effort to save games for the OUYA console, providing technical information about the Czech TV Tennis clones on unique integrated chips which were made in Tesla Piešťany or digitizing the ZX Spectrum game used in the famous socialist TV game show Videostop.
