EFGAMP is strengthened by the membership of another museum dedicated to video game culture. The HI-SCORE Videogame Museum in Hannover operates a large 1,000-square-meter exhibition focusing on arcade culture, game consoles and handhelds.

“Although the HI-SCORE Videogame Museum was only founded two years ago, it already attracts tens of thousands of visitors per year. This impressively demonstrates the great interest in gaming cultural heritage,” says Andreas Lange, COO of EFGAMP. “Their membership will help us to create a stable and sustainable foundation for preserving and communicating the most popular aspect of digital culture.”

“For us at HI-SCORE Videospielmuseum, video games are much more than just entertainment,“ says Regine Silbermann, director of the museum. “They represent decades of cultural history and a heritage that needs to be preserved. In recent years, our museum has faced weekly challenges of repairs and restoration, since we never wanted to keep the exhibits behind glass but make them playable. Especially arcade cabinets, but also game consoles and handhelds, require continuous effort to maintain a hands-on experience for our visitors. Building this museum has been a labor of love, and joining EFGAMP gives us the opportunity to connect with others who share the same passion. We look forward to learning from our European partners, contributing our own knowledge and experiences, and working together to keep the history of video games alive for future generations.”

About HI-SCORE Videogame Museum

The HI-SCORE Videogame Museum opened in Hannover in 2023 and developed into Germany’s largest interactive exhibition devoted to video game history and culture. Since then, it has presented the evolution of the medium on more than 1,000 m² of exhibition space and at numerous regional events.
Its permanent exhibition is designed as a journey through the history and evolution of video games from the beginnings to the present day. The tour is organized by decades, allowing visitors to experience the medium’s development step by step. More than 100 key milestones are fully playable, including original arcade machines, consoles, and handheld systems. Only authentic hardware is used, ensuring a genuine experience of more than five decades of gaming history.
The museum is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of digital cultural heritage. It collaborates with local partners in education, culture and media literacy, and regularly hosts special events, workshops, lectures and tournaments.
