EFGAMP is taking part in two panels at the gamescom congress, which starts tomorrow as part of gamescom in Cologne.
In the first panel ‘Preserving the cultural asset of games for the future‘, CEO of EFGAMP Andreas Lange will contribute the experiences and ideas of EFGAMP members. Co-discussants are Dr. Andreas Görgen, Head of Office at the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) and Alistair Hudson, Scientific-Artistic Chairman of EFGAMP member ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe.
The second panel ‘Digital cultural heritage. Where does UNESCO stand?‘ is about the recognition of digital cultures as cultural heritage. After the demoscene was the first digital culture to be recognized by UNESCO as national cultural heritage in five countries (FI, GER, POL, NL, CH), the perspective will now be broadened to other digital cultures especially in the field of gaming. Other panelists are Prof. Dr. Eva-Maria Seng, who is Rector of the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart. Besides other roles she is Jury of North Rhine-Westphalia for the Evaluation of Applications to the Status of Intangible Cultural Heritage and since 2015 chairwoman of the jury and Representative of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany in the Reflection Group EU and Cultural Heritage as well as in the Council of Europe in the matter of Cultural Heritage, Tobias Kopka, representing the Demoscene and Art of Coding, Thorolfur Beck Kristjonsson, who as Co-founder of CCP and original creator of EVE online is an expert of persistant multi player online and Marilia Marton, Secretariat of Culture, Economy and Creative Industry of the State of São Paulo.
